Brian was Executive Director of HeartWood Centre for Community Youth Development for four years. He has worked or volunteered in numerous leadership roles and co-founded a number of community based initiatives. Brian has been providing leadership development, facilitation training and capacity building in organizations and systems since 2000. Some of his past and present projects include:​
  • On the Leadership Team for Facilitation Preparation Program with the Center for Courage & Renewal, 2020-2022
  • Re-designing the ASPIRE Foundation Program: Tatamagouche’s Model of Education, Design and Leadership,  2018-2022​​ (ensuring this program uses an Anti-Racist, De-colonial, and Trauma-informed approaches)
  • Designed and delivered Dalhousie's RBC Sustainability Leadership Certificate Program, 2012-2015
  • Designed and delivered Raft Up: Facilitation Training for Engaging and Mentoring Boys and Young Men, 2010-2022
  • Delivered Youth Engagement training and resource development​ with HeartWood, 2000-2022
